About Council
Bruce School Council works to support student learning, strengthen our school community, and create opportunities for families to get involved.
What We Do
-
Advise and collaborate with the principal on school-related priorities and initiatives
-
Raise funds to support programs and equipment not covered by the TDSB budget
-
Plan events and activities that build school spirit and community
-
Advocate for equity, inclusion, and a welcoming environment for all families
How We Operate
Bruce School Council is made up of parents and caregivers, the principal, a teacher representative and a community representative. Meetings are held once a month and are open to all parents and caregivers — everyone is welcome to attend, share input, and participate. There are four Executive positions as well as voting members, with elections held each October. The committees take on specific projects such as greening, equity, and community engagement.
